Music Discovery #1 of 2012

Either my tastes are too ambiguous or forgiving and I like way too much, or there is just a lot of a great music out there right now. I don’t know which it is, maybe a little of both, but I am not complaining. Thanks to changes in the music industry, changes in the web, blogs like Stereogum and mu-sique, tools like iTunes, services like Rdio and Spotify, and even events like SXSW, it’s never been easier to discover new music, and I sure am discovering a lot.

I am going to try something new this year. Instead of sporadically linking/liking newly discovered music on Facebook (and having to hold back for fear of overwhelming friends and family), I am going to make a weekly post here on my blog, of music that I discover. Ambitious I know, might be biting off more than I can chew and maybe this should be a monthly thing, but again, I am just finding so much that it’s hard not to want to share with everyone.

As you will be able to tell, my tastes are vast… there will be a little something for everyone in these lists (in just the list below you have Darkwave, Disco, Electronic, Hip Hop, Indie Rock, Lo-Fi, Synth-pop, etc.). I will always attempt to track down and share an audio file directly, but often some of the music has not yet been released and will have to be shared in some sort of embeddable medium.

So without further ado, here is some stand-out music that I discovered last week (there was a lot last week due to the holidays and all) and as you can tell there are two artists I am really excited about, Grimes & Tennis. Hope you enjoy!
